Distinct Network Monitor version 5.1 now includes a scheduler that allows you to run a scheduled collection of network traffic statistics or packet captures. With the new scheduling feature, you no longer have to remember to start and stop Distinct Network Monitor when you are trying to build a constant record of traffic during specific time periods. Just set the parameters you wish, like a special filter and schedule the monitor to start and stop at any given time. For example, you could run a daily capture from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm or you could start a capture at any time of night without needing to be present. If you are collecting only the network statistics, then a new database file will even be automatically opened when no more data can be written to the first one. With Network Monitor automatically doing all the capturing for you, all that is left is for you to run the reports needed by management to monitor network activity and these too can be scheduled. The combination of Distinct Network Monitor and its ReportBuilder allows automated network traffic monitoring and reporting letting you concentrate on other areas of network management.
